Quality release from Scape which features Triosk's Laurence Pike and the most excellent Mr Dave Miller in the line-up giving us an album of odd, strange but very compelling jazz-based sounds. You can still hear the dub in there, but this is mostly about the free-flowing, almost improvised sounding structures that roam throughout. Deep and beautifully played, you feel that the only thing missing is a smoke-filled room to complete the ambience. The electronic basslines back up the skittering drums from Pike and the ever-present trumpet played by Phil Slater gives the whole thing a very authentic feel. Something a wee bit different for Scape, yet still very much their kind of sound I guess. Very enjoyable.
